Jakob’s leadership and communication skills were crafted through the role he played in several championship athletic programs. As a player, he captained the 3 winningest teams in Mercer University’s school history, capped with a 2014 NCAA Tournament bid and first round upset victory over the #3 seeded Duke Blue Devils—a game that would win Jakob and his teammates an ESPY Award.

Following his playing career, Jakob went on to coach basketball and won a National Championship in 2015 with the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. After three successful seasons, Jakob began pursuing other occupational passions.

Known for his depth of critical analysis, thought provoking ideas, challenging standards, and charismatic spirit, Jakob works individually as a consultant, helping organizations in areas like communications, user/client experience, process improvement, and leadership. He founded Master Your Craft LLC, a training and mentorship program for athletes. As a research tool and resource for his clients, Jakob hosts a hit podcast titled “The Master Your Craft Study” where he interviews elite athletes and coaches. Using his personal experience paired with the work he now does, Jakob teaches leadership courses as an adjunct professor and also travels to high schools and universities to speak to student groups on various topics.
