  • 3 Opportunities (TODAY) to Grow

    March 14th, 2020

With the invasion of a new public enemy — a virus spreading across the globe, and with it, largely unforeseeable experiences and outcomes — we’re entering uncharted territory in many ways.

Each crisis or conflict that we face has within it opportunities to grow and learn.

To improve something, it takes intentional effort paired with repetitive practice.
Like any skill, the more reps we get and experiences we take part in, the better at it we become.

We’ll likely never have the opportunity, as we do now, to get this level of access to effective practice reps at several valuable, and relatively abstract attributes/skills.

Here are a few things we might choose to focus on in the coming days/weeks/months if we want to make the most of this strange time:

    1. Composure

  • NY-Res Check-In

    March 13th, 2020

On the 2nd of January, I made a note to ‘check-up on the hard charging New Years resolutions folks during an unforeseen time of distraction.’

I’d say this virus has us pretty well distracted.

So, how are your resolutions coming? On track?

We need to act like responsible people should throughout the duration of this viral outbreak, but it also wouldn’t be bad, as more and more people get sent to work from home or are getting laid off, to revisit those task and goal lists you made on New Years.

If you can make it through this, and you still stay consistent/on-track with your goals, you might have what it takes to last the whole year!

Would love to hear about it. I think I’m going to record a pretty lengthy, thoughtful video about the virus tomorrow. Stay tuned.

  • Connected

    March 12th, 2020

    We are vastly
    and constantly,
    further connected,
    like never
    before in human history,
    but only
    now,
    by twine,
    not steel.

Every once in a short while, my ideas just won’t come out in full sentences and proper grammar. When that happens, I tend to write a poem instead.

  • Infinite Indecision

    March 11th, 2020

There are infinite variations of foods and meals we could cook for dinner tonight.

There are infinite types of wine and beer we could drink.

There are infinite lists of movies and tv shows we could stream online.

Indecision can waste hours, years even, of our lives.

Considering that all the previous options should lend themselves to a great date night with a special someone, I’d not waste even 5 more minutes deciding on any of it—particularly if you already know who the date is going to be with. If you don’t, start there. If you do, just pick a few and dive in.

People feel enlightened sitting in silence for weeks straight in the middle of the forest. I don’t think ‘sushi’ or ‘burger’ is going to make a whole lot of difference.

Isn’t it funny, how infinity, of all things, can feel so limiting?

  • COVID-19, F***ing Fools

    March 10th, 2020

    Last edit: 3/13/20, 12:00p/et

Facts, stats, claims, comedy, fear, hysteria, commentary.
Does anybody know what in hell is truthfully going on with the Coronavirus?

If you clicked to read this, I’m talking DIRECTLY TO YOU — an attraction to the idea that someone talking about this is a “fool”, implies your relevance to what I’m about to say — and you’ll honestly love this piece if you can put your guard down, take a deep breath, and spend 5-7 minutes reading it. If you harshly cough when you take that deep breath, go directly to the hospital.

Of the common-folk (me and you), the one’s who know that they know nothing about viruses, there seems to be two types of us galavanting around the internet.
